Strength & Conditioning for KidsOur Thursday night strength and conditioning class for kids ages 10-14 will focus on the foundations of exercise and muscle development while improving your child’s confidence. Whether you are looking to improve your speed and reaction time, make the high school team, build muscle, get in shape, learn new exercises, or make new friends, this is the class for you. Coach Pete is a CSCS certified trainer currently training kids at the gym at the Wonderland of Ice. Pete will show you exercises to make you faster and stronger. Kids will use body weight and light weights to get stronger, while working on core exercises to stabilize the muscles needed for balance and to help you get stronger.**Classes will meet and workout outside (weather pending) our building at 190 Kelsey Ave (the Park rec building) and start in the lower lot. Please bring water.*Registration opens March 19th.

This program will include various muscle toning and body sculpting techniques utilizing aerobic steps, exercise bands and bars, medicine ball, hand & leg weights. Tennis Lessons - Tennis Lessons: Ages 7-10
West Haven Parks & Recreation is excited to bring back Tennis Lessons for children ages 7-14. Instructor John Kelly will be offering 5-week session starting Monday, April 29th.John has an impressive tennis background. He has been coaching youth sports since 1995. John is an 8 Time USTA tournament champion. He is currently ranked #2 (Top 25 in U.S.) in USTA Men's Tennis CT. He recently qualified for Men's Nationals in San Diego for his 2023 season success.John is CPR/AED Certified & also completing the USTA Safe Play Coaching Certification. John played three years of Varsity Tennis for West Haven High School and is the owner/head instructor of JK Tennis Academy in Milford, CT.
John will use the "Orange Ball" "Yellow Ball " and "Green Ball" method to instruct class.

West Haven Parks & Recreation is excited to bring back Tennis Lessons for children ages 7-14. Instructor John Kelly will be offering 5-week session starting Monday, April 29th.John has an impressive tennis background. He has been coaching youth sports since 1995. John is an 8 Time USTA tournament champion. He is currently ranked #2 (Top 25 in U.S.) in USTA Men's Tennis CT. He recently qualified for Men's Nationals in San Diego for his 2023 season success.John is CPR/AED Certified & also completing the USTA Safe Play Coaching Certification. John played three years of Varsity Tennis for West Haven High School and is the owner/head instructor of JK Tennis Academy in Milford, CT.

Strength & Conditioning for KidsOur Thursday night strength and conditioning class for kids ages 10-14 will focus on the foundations of exercise and muscle development while improving your child’s confidence. Whether you are looking to improve your speed and reaction time, make the high school team, build muscle, get in shape, learn new exercises, or make new friends, this is the class for you. Coach Pete is a CSCS certified trainer currently training kids at the gym at the Wonderland of Ice. Pete will show you exercises to make you faster and stronger. Tennis Lessons - Tennis Lessons: Ages 7-10
West Haven Parks & Recreation is excited to bring back Tennis Lessons for children ages 7-14. Instructor John Kelly will be offering 5-week session starting Monday, April 29th.John has an impressive tennis background. He has been coaching youth sports since 1995. John is an 8 Time USTA tournament champion. He is currently ranked #2 (Top 25 in U.S.) in USTA Men's Tennis CT. He recently qualified for Men's Nationals in San Diego for his 2023 season success.John is CPR/AED Certified & also completing the USTA Safe Play Coaching Certification. John played three years of Varsity Tennis for West Haven High School and is the owner/head instructor of JK Tennis Academy in Milford, CT.
John will use the "Orange Ball" "Yellow Ball " and "Green Ball" method to instruct class.
At the orange ball level, John will introduce a larger court and longer racquet. Instruction emphasizes a game-based approach to tennis. The scaled down equipment will allow students to achieve ball control and rally skills more quickly. By the time your child advances to the next level they should have a consistent serve, be able to rally consistently in the orange ball court as well as have an understanding of topspin and underspin.

Kids Cooking - Kids Cooking
Welcome to our first kids cooking class hosted by Mary's Culinary Classes! Mary has established herself in several of the shoreline towns Parks & Recreation departments over the past few years and has been interviewed by both Channel 8 and the Register. Mary brings her love and knowledge of cooking to the kids by teaching them to measure and mix while teaching the safeties of the kitchen. Kids will eat their meal in class and take home any leftovers they don’t eat. Mary began her journey by watching and helping her mother baking and cooking traditional Italian cuisine. Her repertoire has expanded beyond cooking Italian food as she has spent many years working in the restaurant business. Mary spent many years working with both children and adults alike and books private birthday parties as well. Some classes are co-taught by her husband, Gregg. Gregg is an award winning culinary arts and restaurant management teacher who currently teaches at the high school and college level. Both instructors are ServSafe certified. This class, students will learn how to prepare chicken tenders and make an edible cookie dough batter to fill brownies. They will eat their creations and take home anything they don't finish.

Strength & Conditioning for KidsOur Thursday night strength and conditioning class for kids ages 10-14 will focus on the foundations of exercise and muscle development while improving your child’s confidence. Whether you are looking to improve your speed and reaction time, make the high school team, build muscle, get in shape, learn new exercises, or make new friends, this is the class for you. Coach Pete is a CSCS certified trainer currently training kids at the gym at the Wonderland of Ice. Pete will show you exercises to make you faster and stronger. Tennis Lessons - Tennis Lessons: Ages 7-10
West Haven Parks & Recreation is excited to bring back Tennis Lessons for children ages 7-14. Instructor John Kelly will be offering 5-week session starting Monday, April 29th.John has an impressive tennis background. He has been coaching youth sports since 1995. John is an 8 Time USTA tournament champion. He is currently ranked #2 (Top 25 in U.S.) in USTA Men's Tennis CT. He recently qualified for Men's Nationals in San Diego for his 2023 season success.John is CPR/AED Certified & also completing the USTA Safe Play Coaching Certification. John played three years of Varsity Tennis for West Haven High School and is the owner/head instructor of JK Tennis Academy in Milford, CT.
John will use the "Orange Ball" "Yellow Ball " and "Green Ball" method to instruct class.
At the orange ball level, John will introduce a larger court and longer racquet. Instruction emphasizes a game-based approach to tennis. The scaled down equipment will allow students to achieve ball control and rally skills more quickly. By the time your child advances to the next level they should have a consistent serve, be able to rally consistently in the orange ball court as well as have an understanding of topspin and underspin.

Strength & Conditioning for KidsOur Thursday night strength and conditioning class for kids ages 10-14 will focus on the foundations of exercise and muscle development while improving your child’s confidence. Whether you are looking to improve your speed and reaction time, make the high school team, build muscle, get in shape, learn new exercises, or make new friends, this is the class for you. Coach Pete is a CSCS certified trainer currently training kids at the gym at the Wonderland of Ice. Pete will show you exercises to make you faster and stronger. Kids will use body weight and light weights to get stronger, while working on core exercises to stabilize the muscles needed for balance and to help you get stronger.**Classes will meet and workout outside (weather pending) our building at 190 Kelsey Ave (the Park rec building) and start in the lower lot. Tennis Lessons - Tennis Lessons: Ages 7-10
West Haven Parks & Recreation is excited to bring back Tennis Lessons for children ages 7-14. Instructor John Kelly will be offering 5-week session starting Monday, April 29th.John has an impressive tennis background. He has been coaching youth sports since 1995. John is an 8 Time USTA tournament champion. He is currently ranked #2 (Top 25 in U.S.) in USTA Men's Tennis CT. He recently qualified for Men's Nationals in San Diego for his 2023 season success.John is CPR/AED Certified & also completing the USTA Safe Play Coaching Certification. John played three years of Varsity Tennis for West Haven High School and is the owner/head instructor of JK Tennis Academy in Milford, CT.
John will use the "Orange Ball" "Yellow Ball " and "Green Ball" method to instruct class.
At the orange ball level, John will introduce a larger court and longer racquet. Instruction emphasizes a game-based approach to tennis. The scaled down equipment will allow students to achieve ball control and rally skills more quickly. By the time your child advances to the next level they should have a consistent serve, be able to rally consistently in the orange ball court as well as have an understanding of topspin and underspin.

Strength & Conditioning for KidsOur Thursday night strength and conditioning class for kids ages 10-14 will focus on the foundations of exercise and muscle development while improving your child’s confidence. Whether you are looking to improve your speed and reaction time, make the high school team, build muscle, get in shape, learn new exercises, or make new friends, this is the class for you. Coach Pete is a CSCS certified trainer currently training kids at the gym at the Wonderland of Ice. Pete will show you exercises to make you faster and stronger. Kids will use body weight and light weights to get stronger, while working on core exercises to stabilize the muscles needed for balance and to help you get stronger.**Classes will meet and workout outside (weather pending) our building at 190 Kelsey Ave (the Park rec building) and start in the lower lot. Please bring water.*Registration opens March 19th.
